Yi Luo, D.D.S

Dr. Luo earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from UCLA School of Dentistry, where she received numerous honors in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Upon graduation in 2016, she was awarded the prestigious “Dr. Theodore Berg, Jr. Award”, the highest reward in recognition of her proficiency in prosthodontics. Driven by her passion for tackling complex dental problems, Dr. Luo then completed a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at UCLA and a three-year specialty training in Prosthodontics at UCSF. During her residency years, Dr. Luo oversaw dental students as a clinical instructor. She also conducted extensive research on dental implants and orofacial pain, and published numerous articles on peer-reviewed scientific journals.

After completing her residencies, Dr. Luo has been working in both a private prosthodontic office and a corporate dental implant center. She has a wide range of expertise including restoring and replacing teeth with bonding, veneers, crowns and bridges, partial and complete dentures, and dental implants. She is proficient in utilizing the latest digital technologies, such as 3D scanning/printing and CAD/CAM, in treatment planning, smile design, and prostheses fabrication. From restoring a single tooth to full mouth reconstruction, Dr. Luo’s knowledge and experience allow her to provide diverse treatment options which are tailored to each patient. As a prosthodontist, Dr. Luo is committed to creating dental work that lasts with the highest quality of esthetics and function.

Dr. Luo loves giving back to her community. Ever since she was a dental student, she’s been volunteering at “Give Kids a Smile” program at local communities to provide free dental care for underprivileged children. She went on the “Miles of Smile” trip to the underserved areas in Central California to provide free service for the children. She also participated in various CDA care programs to make free dentures for California residents who couldn’t afford treatments.

In her spare time, Dr. Luo enjoys spending time with her husband and son, exploring outdoor, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, and caring for her organic vegetable garden.

In 1983, Dr. Chu graduated from University of Florida with a Doctor in Dental Medicine degree. He has completed two-year specialty training in Prosthodontics at University of California in San Francisco. He has been in private practice, full time, since 1983 and has been teaching, part time, at UCSF since 1992. Dr. Chu and his wife Betty have two sons, Alexander and Anthony. Dr. Chu enjoys tennis, mountain biking, travel and wild life photography in his spare time.

Dr. Chu has lectured to fellow dentist and specialists nationally and internationally on the topics of dental implant esthetics and implant reconstruction for the edentulous patient. Dr. Chu also lectures on prosthetic reconstruction and management of the worn dentition with multidisciplinary approach.
